Street racing, an activity as dangerous as it is unlawful, became the reason for the latest arrests in Harris County. Last Friday, upon observing two vehicles engaging in a high-speed chase, a deputy from Constable Mark Herman's Office initiated a stop near Timber Forest Drive and Will Clayton Pkwy. The drivers, identified as Austin Smith and Colton Abshire, were subsequently detained and confessed to their involvement in racing, as reported by the Constable Mark Herman’s Office.
This episode of recklessness on our roads led to serious consequences for the two men. According to an official Facebook post by Constable Mark Herman’s Office, "Austin Smith and Colton Abshire were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Racing on a Public Roadway. Their bonds were set at $100.00 out of County Court 7.” The specifics of these charges mirror the potential harm their actions could have inflicted on innocent residents, and comes as a reminder of the constable's commitment to road safety.
