Baseball fans and commuters should be aware that the Washington Nationals are beginning their 2025 season tomorrow. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPDC) has announced that certain streets around Nationals Park will be closed before each home game and will not reopen until the crowd has cleared after the game.
The affected streets include N Street, where it stretches from South Capitol Street to First Street, SE, and Half Street from M to N Street, SE. Van Street and Cushing Place will also see closures, with access restricted to local traffic only, starting three hours before the game's starting pitch and continuing until about 90 minutes after the final out. For those heading to the Geico Garage, access remains available through N Street and South Capitol Street, SE.
On-street parking around Nationals Park will become more limited. Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced, with the MPDC cautioning that failure to comply could result in tickets or towing. Residents with parking in garages along Van Street or Cushing Place should use M Street, SE for access.
