Henderson is set to welcome back the Big West Basketball Championships for the fourth straight year. The city confirmed it's gearing up to host the top eight men's and women's teams from the conference at Lee's Family Forum, from March 12 through March 15. The champions here will not just own bragging rights but also secure a coveted automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, as reported by the City of Henderson.
Free parking at the venue, a nice little gift from the Big West. Mayor Michelle Romero didn’t hide her excitement, noting that UC San Diego will be stepping onto Henderson court for the first time, and extended warm wishes to all student-athletes vying for the "Big Dance". "We are eager to welcome the Big West Basketball Championships back to Henderson for the fourth year, with 14 exciting games over four days," Romero told The City of Henderson.
Lee's Family Forum has quickly become a local sports hotspot since opening. This multi-sport facility hosts four professional teams: the Henderson Silver Knights, Vegas Knight Hawks, Vegas Thrill, and Las Vegas Desert Dogs. Its reputation grew after hosting the Big West Basketball Championships in 2022.
Big West Commissioner Dan Butterly had only the highest praise for the city's hosting talents. "Henderson has become a great home for The Big West Basketball Championships," Butterly lauded, according to a statement obtained by The City of Henderson. He thanked the city for its ongoing support and enthusiasm, noting that players, coaches, and fans are always excited to play in a top-tier venue like Lee's Family Forum.
