A Hialeah woman, Catalina San Marty, 50, has been arrested for allegedly embezzling more than $230,000 from a Fort Lauderdale law firm. San Marty, who was on probation for a previous theft, faces three charges related to fraud and theft, as reported by Local10 News.

San Marty, while working as an office manager at 500Law intellectual property firm, is accused of creating a fake contractor profile in the firm’s QuickBooks account and linking it to her personal bank account. This allowed her to divert $230,274.64. She was arrested yesterday, according to the Broward County Mugshots Instagram page.

Detectives from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department found that the embezzled funds were used for everyday living expenses such as food, Zelle transactions, gas, entertainment, and cosmetics. San Marty also had a previous conviction for stealing more than $25,000 from Digestive Medicine Associates, where she worked as a bookkeeper.

After the fraud was discovered, San Marty was fired from the firm. She later apologized via text message for her actions, but the firm decided to pursue charges. Detective Tristan Reid said, "San Marty later text messaged (redacted) apologizing for the theft," as reported by Local10 News

San Marty faces charges including obtaining property over $50,000 by fraud, first-degree grand theft, and identity theft. She is currently held without bond at the Broward Main Jail.
