Hillsborough County will honor its Public Works and Water Resources employees this Saturday. The third annual Public Service Day, scheduled for March 29, will be a family-friendly event featuring activities that recognize the essential services these departments provide. The festivities will take place at the Hillsborough County West Service Unit, located at 9805 Sheldon Rd., Tampa, FL 33635, according to an official announcement on the county's website.
For the kids in attendance, the event will allow to freely touch and climb on some heavy machinery, while their guardians can gain insights into the operations that maintain the County's infrastructure. Interactive displays and hands-on activities are geared towards showing the importance of clean water and well-kept roads. From roadway maintenance to water services, the different departments will showcase their role in ensuring day-to-day tasks are efficiently carried out in Hillsborough County.
One of the event highlights includes the Mosquito Management team distributing free mosquitofish, which are known to aid in reducing mosquito populations. They will also display their helicopter for photo opportunities and educate the public on its use in mosquito control. As explained in a recent Hillsborough County announcement, this is an opportunity for residents to understand better why they might see the helicopter flying low on occasion.
Moreover, there will be representatives from the County's Human Resources team to discuss employment opportunities, which could be particularly useful for those looking to possibly join the ranks of public servants. The Parks & Recreation department will not only bring fun and games but also a bounce house, with the promise of free hot dogs and snow cones, while supplies last, ensuring an enjoyable time for all ages.
