The Houston Astros have introduced their new Nike City Connect 2.0 uniforms for 2025, featuring a design that departs from traditional baseball attire with a Mission Control-inspired look.
According to CW39, the new jerseys are inspired by Houston's space exploration history, featuring pinstripes that resemble lunar patterns and a hat logo designed to reflect the theme of reaching for the stars. The Astros are the first MLB team to wear the Nike City Connect 2.0 series, and the uniforms will be showcased during "Space City" mondays home games.
The jersey features an "A" instead of the traditional "H," symbolizing the city's connection to space exploration. The hat design includes a star in a rainbow gradient within the "A," representing a forward-looking theme. The inside of the hat displays a Mars texture and the phrase "The Next Frontier," according to KHOU.
Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications Anita Sehgal detailed the inspiration behind the Astros' redesign, "This uniform is an evolution of our first and most successful City Connect jersey launch – with a forward-looking approach to our future," she said in a statement obtained by KHOU.
The new playing kit features "Stros" on the chest plate and a mission patch inspired by the Union Station logo, paired with the Astros "H." "Space City" is displayed on the neckline with a lunar surface texture. The Astros will also wear Afterburner socks by Stance as part of the new uniform, marking a step into a new phase of baseball, as per KHOU.
The first game in these uniforms is scheduled against the Giants on March 31, as the Astros organization prepares for their players to wear the new designs on the field.
