An individual has been detained following a stabbing incident at a Woolworth Street residence. The Houston Police Department has identified the man in custody as Raynard Lathell Wilmore, 50, charged with aggravated assault within the familial context. The altercation took place shortly before midday on Sunday.
According to the City of Houston, the victim, a 32-year-old male was rushed to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition following the attack. Details of the event indicate that the incident, involved the accused, Mr. Wilmore, and the victim engaging in a confrontation that escalated to violence, where Wilmore's nephew received stab wounds.
Following the emergency call to the 3834 Woolworth Street address, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene. The situation was already deescalated by another resident, who managed to separate Wilmore and the victim before further harm could ensue. Notably, after the incident, Wilmore did not leave the scene, allowing for his swift arrest.
Wilmore subsequently also received medical attention for minor injuries and was taken into custody. He now awaits court proceedings in the 177th State District Court.
