A man faces charges after allegedly leaving his injured wife and kids at the crash scene in north Houston, with court documents indicating the children were left in "imminent danger." As reported by KHOU, Terrance Lee Carr, who was already out on bail for a DWI charge from February, was arrested and is accused of abandoning his children after a major crash involving two vehicles last Tuesday near Yale Street and West Tidwell Road.
The collision, which propelled a Ford Expedition into a bayou after striking a Chevrolet Avalanche, is being scrutinized by investigators; police Captain Ryan Watson with the North Division told KHOU that the Expedition was caught on camera traveling at incredibly high speeds, up to possibly 100 mph in a 35 mph zone. Witnesses told police they observed Carr escape the wreckage and flee, disregarding the safety of his family.
In a further report by Click2Houston, after the crash that occurred Tuesday, one child required emergency surgery for abdominal injuries, and another suffered from a collapsed lung, court records revealed. Carr is now held without bond in the Harris County Jail, with new charges related to the incident asserting his actions led to the endangerment of his four children, aged 8, 4, 3, and 7 months, who were all transported to the hospital along with the woman in the vehicle.
"I have no idea what was going through his mind at the time, I don’t know if there is some other reason he felt he needed to flee," Captain Ryan Watson conveyed to Click2Houston, expressing uncertainty over Carr's motives for leaving his family in dire circumstances. Additionally, the individuals in the Avalanche have reportedly shown no signs of impairment and are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. As the incident continues to unfold, the community remains at a standstill, witnessing the consequences of one man's grave decisions.
