A recent traffic incident in Houston has turned from a critical injury case into a fatality. The Houston Police Department reported that a 25-year-old man involved in a motorcycle crash last week has succumbed to his injuries. The accident took place at the intersection of Brewster Street and Sumpter Street on the afternoon of March 8.
The unidentified man was riding his Honda motorcycle southbound and, according to the Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division Officer R. Leibold, failed to heed the stop sign at the intersection. As a result, he collided with a westbound gray Ford F-150 pickup truck. Running the stop sign, the motorcyclist, who was critically injured at the scene, was rushed to the hospital.
The motorcyclist, whose name has yet to be released pending confirmation from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was pronounced dead by doctors on Tuesday. The devastating news was shared by the Houston Police Department in a statement released on Thursday.
Remarkably, the three individuals in the Ford truck involved in the crash were unscathed. Investigations by the Houston Police Department into the exact circumstances of the tragic incident continue. The investigation's ongoing nature, looking into all aspects of the collision, suggests that further details will emerge as officials piece together the moments that led up to the crash.
