On the afternoon of February 19, gunfire was reported at an apartment complex located at 9700 Leawood Boulevard, resulting in the death of 34-year-old Terry Meza Jr. The Houston Police Department has announced the arrests of two suspects and is searching for a third. Tracy Burleson, 32, is in custody on murder charges, and Mackenly Nohemy Palomo Medina, 23, has been arrested on burglary-related charges. Booking photos of both suspects have been released by the department, according to the City of Houston.
The Houston Police Division's Sergeants M. Burrow and R. Watson, who preside over the Homicide Division, relayed that patrol officers found Meza unresponsive from his wounds at the scene and that despite rapid transport by paramedics to an area hospital, he was pronounced dead. In the days following, license plates were scanned, witness canvassing ensued, and Burleson and Palomo Medina were apprehended on February 25 and 27, respectively; these details are according to the official update by the police division.
A search is ongoing for Ubong Esiere, 34, the third suspect still at large, who has been charged with murder in the 486th State District Court. His photo from 2023 is also being circulated.
The department is asking anyone with information about Esiere's whereabouts or the case to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600, or to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers by calling 713-222-TIPS.
