U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported Orbelin Benitez-Carbajal, a 49-year-old man with a history of criminal convictions in the United States, back to his home country of Mexico. According to a press release from ICE, the removal took place on Monday, when Benitez-Carbajal was escorted from the Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe, Texas, to the Laredo Port of Entry before being handed over to Mexican authorities.
Benitez-Carbajal, who had been previously deported on December 11, 2014, faced numerous charges over the years: he was convicted of manslaughter on July 22, 2010, in Travis County, Texas, as well as assault on April 25, 2006, he also had a DWI charge from December 5, 2023, in Austin, Texas, and he was again charged with illegal entry into the U.S. on January 25, 2024, in the Western District of Texas.
