
A hiker was rescued from the Ka`au Crater Loop Trail in Palolo on Wednesday after sustaining an injury that left her unable to navigate the terrain. The call for assistance was placed to the Honolulu Fire Department at 3:06 p.m., prompting a swift response from emergency services.
The injured female hiker, who suffered a lower leg injury near the first waterfall, was quickly located by Honolulu Fire Department, who arrived on the scene by 3:14 p.m. with six units and 17 personnel in tow despite the trail's challenging features and the patient's remote location, Air 1 was brought in to airlift the individual ensuring an expedited rescue process.
Once the Honolulu Fire Department completed their medical assessment and stabilization efforts, Air 1 facilitated her extraction from the scene. The hiker was then transported to Palolo Valley District Park, where she was handed over to Emergency Medical Services by 4:17 p.m., ensuring she received the necessary medical attention following the ordeal.
