Authorities in Massachusetts have successfully apprehended a 39-year old New Hampshire man, Jaquelle Anderson of Portsmouth, following an extensive investigation led by the Auburn Police Department. According to a Facebook post by the Auburn MA Police Department, Anderson was wanted for an accumulated 15 arrest warrants and is implicated in thefts amounting to an estimated $115K across multiple states.

The chain of events leading to his arrest began with the theft of approximately $2,400 worth of clothing from Victoria's Secret at the Auburn Mall on December 5, 2024. With help from the New Hampshire Probation/Parole Department and Victoria's Secret Asset Protection, Auburn Police identified the suspect in January. Investigations revealed that Anderson had a penchant for committing thefts throughout New England and the Commonwealth and was known for evading law enforcement and failing to appear in court, leading to the numerous warrants for his arrest.

Further complicating the search for Anderson, law enforcement discovered his tendency to rent different vehicles when committing his crimes, making it difficult to pinpoint his location. Despite these challenges, his activities eventually caught up with him when he briefly surfaced in Massachusetts, committing thefts at Victoria’s Secret in Natick and Auburn on February 28. He was also involved in another theft in Rhode Island yesterday, where video surveillance finally captured images of him and his vehicle.

Swift action ensued after Detective Keith Chipman of the Auburn Police Department reached out to the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and a "Be On the Lookout" message was disseminated. Anderson, in the previously identified vehicle, was spotted by members of the Massachusetts State Police on I-290, leading to a chase. When safety concerns arose, the pursuit was halted, but resumed on I-495 where stop sticks ensured the end of his vehicle's journey on the exit 67 off-ramp.

Ultimately, with the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing Division's aid, Anderson was found hiding in a wooded area in Clinton. The combined effort of the Massachusetts State Police and local agencies led to Anderson's arrest without further incidents yesterday.
