
Interstate 8 near Gila Bend, Arizona, was temporarily closed due to a "law enforcement situation" after a driver fled from a traffic stop. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident began near Sentinel at milepost 89 when the suspect was pulled over for speeding. "The man would not identify himself and then sped away from the traffic stop," leading to a 14-mile pursuit. Troopers used a grappler device to stop the vehicle at milepost 103, where the suspect barricaded himself inside. DPS SWAT was called in, and the man was safely taken into custody. The highway was reopened after about an hour, as reported by 12 News.
The Arizona Department of Transportation reported that milepost 103 on I-8 was closed due to a standoff. The location, about 15 miles west of Gila Bend, caused travel delays. After the standoff ended, the suspect was taken to Maricopa County Jail, and the road reopened at 7:30 p.m., as mentioned by FOX 10 Phoenix.
