An in-custody death has prompted multiple investigations after a man was found unresponsive in his cell at the Irving Police Department in Irving, Texas. Patrick Jones, a 32-year-old arrested due to an active theft warrant from Dallas County, was discovered early on Tuesday morning by a detention officer during a routine check.
According to the social media post from the Irving Police Department, officers tried to quickly initiate life-saving measures upon finding Jones on Tuesday at approximately 4:45 a.m. However, these efforts were sadly in vain. The Irving Fire Department transported Jones to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The circumstances surrounding Jones's death remain unclear, and an autopsy is expected to be conducted by the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the official cause of death. This incident has triggered a standard response, which includes separate investigations by the Irving Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and the Dallas County Public Integrity Unit, as mentioned in the department's announcement.
