In a turn of events that couldn't exactly be called the luck of the Irish, authorities reported a notable number of arrests and incidents on St. Patrick's Day. The Irving Police Department took to social media to announce that officers had made 15 DWI arrests during what they dubbed the "No Refusal Weekend."
Beyond the arrests for driving while intoxicated, which in itself reflects a continuing challenge in curbing alcohol-impaired driving, the local law enforcement also responded to 19 major accidents. This statistic underscores the dangers that are all too common on festive occasions.
The enforcement didn't stop there. Two guns were seized, indicating an undercurrent of other criminal activities during what should have been a jovial celebration. Additionally, a variety of drugs were taken off the streets, further highlighting the multifaceted nature of police work under the surface of holiday festivities.
