
A tragic incident occurred at a Middleburg construction site Tuesday morning when a 45-year-old Jacksonville man was killed after becoming wedged between a bulldozer and a dump truck. First Coast News reports that the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the fatality at around 9:39 a.m. on 4492 Trefoil Trail, where the incident occurred as the man was standing near the rear of the truck after finishing his work.
According to the FHP, the bulldozer operator was backing up and failed to see the man standing behind the parked dump truck. The ensuing collision resulted in the man being "crushed" between the two vehicles. WOKV detailed the operator of the bulldozer as a 44-year-old woman from Middleburg. The driver had finished "processing his load of material" prior to the fatal event.
The News4Jax coverage adds that the incident took place near Lazy Acres Road at an active construction site. FHP's ongoing investigation aims to uncover further details surrounding the circumstances of the accident. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
