James Taylor, the quintessential voice of American folk-rock, is set to grace Boston with his presence once more this summer. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is adding two shows at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway on August 26t and 27, as confirmed by Boston 25 News. These dates are part of an expansion of Taylor's current tour that will now march through September.
Having already serenaded Boston audiences last September and with a special fundraiser performance in October, Taylor continues to affirm his storied ties with the city. According to The Boston Globe, Taylor played two nights at the same Fenway venue in September 2024 and returned for a unique engagement with 30 students from the Boston Arts Academy during a fundraiser for the school's foundation.
Fans of Taylor can expect the shows to feature his classic hits as well as tracks from his 20th studio album "American Standard," which clinched the number one spot on Billboard’s US Top Rock Albums chart and snagged best traditional pop vocal album at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards. Tickets for these much-anticipated summer dates will go live this Friday at 10 a.m. and can be purchased via Taylor's official tour website.
Adding an indie kick to the lineup, Boston's own Tiny Habits, which, formed at the Berklee College of Music in 2022, will open for Taylor. Fresh off their debut album "All For Something" reaching its one-year milestone, the folk-pop band brings their budding discography and tours with recognized industry names such as Gracie Abrams, Ingrid Michaelson, and Noah Kahan. Taylor's summer shows not only promise nostalgia for long-time followers but also echo a commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians, with collaborations with artists including Kacey Musgrave and Lizzy McAlpine.
