The Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of School Trustees has unanimously backed Jhone Ebert as the district's new superintendent. From her earlier days as a CCSD mathematics teacher to her recent tenure as Nevada's State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Ebert's 35-year career has been rooted in the educational field, News3LV reports.

Amidst strong anticipation for progress from the community, trustees highlighted Ebert's intimate knowledge of state laws and the district's intricacies as pivotal for quickly propelling change. "I think the community is expecting to see things move quickly," Trustee Emily Stevens told News3LV.

The CCSD board saw Ebert triumph in a selection process that included two other candidates: Ben Shuldiner from the Lansing School District and Dr. Jesse Welsh from Nevada State High School. Ebert's success was partly attributed to her leadership flair and her historical connection to the district, which includes roles like chief innovation and productivity officer, as KTNV indicates.

The Clark County Education Association (CCEA) has expressed optimism about Ebert's potential to further educational transformation. "I absolutely believe Superintendent Ebert is the right person," a CCEA representative confidently shared with KTNV, emphasizing the preexisting rapport between Ebert and the union. The CCEA sees this relationship as crucial for concerted efforts to advocate policy in Carson City during the legislative session.

With an extensive background that includes roles as CCSD's Magnet Schools Director, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Professional Development, Chief Technology Officer, and Chief Productivity and Innovation Officer, all eyes are now on Ebert as she prepares for her next challenge. Ebert and CCSD are set to begin contract negotiations soon, with the next board meeting on March 27 marking the earliest possible start for her new role.
