Las Vegas is heading into a wet, windy Sunday, with rain continuing through the morning and scattered showers possible into the afternoon. Early temperatures were in the upper 50s, but the day could briefly reach the upper 60s before cooler air moves in. A few heavier downpours and thunderstorms remain possible across the region.
Rain Tapers But Flood Risk Lingers
The National Weather Service says widespread wetting rain could continue through the afternoon, with locally heavy bursts creating a flash-flood risk in vulnerable areas. Las Vegas rainfall totals are expected to land around a quarter-inch to half an inch. Drivers should be especially careful around washes, low-lying roads and underpasses if heavier rain develops.
Afternoon Winds Turn Blustery
Sunday's high is forecast near 69 degrees, followed by a noticeable temperature drop through the afternoon. Southwest winds of 10 to 20 knots are forecast at most listed sites, with gusts around 25 knots at Harry Reid, while rain chances fall sharply later in the day. The latest outlook is a more active update to Hoodline's earlier Halloween weekend forecast.
Clearer Weather Arrives Monday
Sunday night should turn mostly clear, with a low near 52 degrees and lighter west-northwest winds. Monday brings sunshine, gusty north winds across the region, and a high near 70, followed by mostly sunny skies and highs around 70 to 71 through Thursday. Highs are expected to reach 76 Friday and 72 Saturday.
For Sunday plans, the safest bet is to keep an eye on changing skies and allow extra time on the road. Even a brief desert downpour can quickly create trouble in flood-prone stretches, so avoid driving through water and turn around if a roadway becomes covered.
