Kalamazoo residents Dominique Motton, 20, and Javion Jackson, 18, are facing additional charges in connection with a second shooting incident that took place last December, as announced on Tuesday. The previously accused in a Gull Road shooting from October 2024 are now charged for their alleged involvement in gun violence occurring outside of a Little Caesars restaurant on West Main Street. According to FOX 17, three people were injured and a young family, including two small children, narrowly avoided being shot during the December incident.
Charges against the duo were confirmed by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office, with Motton arraigned on seven counts of assault with intent to murder, seven counts of felony firearm, and other related offenses, sitting on a $100,000 cash/surety bond for these latest charges and a $250,000 bond for the October shooting. In a statement obtained by WZZM 13, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) Chief David Boysen underscored, "Let this be a reminder to those who want to be a shooter in Kalamazoo: you will be held accountable." Following the announcement of the charges, Jackson, who remained in custody on a $100,000 cash/surety bond from the prior incident, was charged with similar offenses connected to the later shooting.
While informing of the suspects' additional charges, authorities have closed the case involving the December shooting. However, they continue to investigate the October event along Gull Road, actively seeking to bring charges against other suspects. WWMT reported that anyone with information related to either incident is urged to get in touch with the KDPS Criminal Investigations Division or provide information anonymously through various community tip lines.
