An 18-year-old teen from Kalamazoo was arrested after leading deputies on a high-speed chase that exceeded speeds of 150 mph in Calhoun County, officials said. The chase began around 2:40 a.m. today, when the suspect's vehicle was spotted going over 126 mph on the westbound I-94 near Albion.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office told WOODTV that after failing to stop for a deputy, the man accelerated away, sparking the chase. It concluded on 24 Mile Road near H Drive N in Marengo Township, where he was arrested without incident or injury.
The teenager is now facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges and is being held in the Calhoun County Jail. MLive reported that the deputies had found fake driver's licenses in the teen’s possession after the pursuit ended.
Officials have not released details regarding the specific charges the suspect is facing. The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort involving the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and the Albion Department of Public Safety, as shared by WWMT.
