In an age where identity theft lurks around every web corner, the city of Kannapolis is stepping up to help its residents protect their personal information. On Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, the Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a free document shredding event for local residents to safely dispose of their sensitive documents. The event, which was announced on the city’s website, according to the City of Kannapolis, is set to take place at Village Park, located at 700 West C St, Kannapolis, NC.
This community service is sharply aimed at Kannapolis dwellers, a gesture to allow them to bring up to five file boxes—or the equivalent of two 40-gallon trash bags—of paperwork to shred, no businesses are allowed to participate, in an effort to keep personal trails of information off the beaten path of potential nefarious hands it's a local safeguarding initiative in a digital epoch where paper still holds powerful trails of our identities.
