Kauai residents, mark your calendars for a weekend dedicated to purging your homes of potentially dangerous substances. The Public Works Solid Waste Division is reminding folks of the upcoming Household Hazardous Waste events on March 29 and March 30 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aimed at helping residents dispose of hazardous items in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, the Household Hazardous Waste collection will be available at four locations over two days, according to the County of Kaua'i.
On Saturday, March 29, with the sun not even considered to rise, residents can head to either the Hanapēpē Base yard at 4380 Lele Road, or the Kapa‘a Base yard located at 4900 Kahau Road, to drop off their hazardous household goods. The following day, Sunday, March 30, shifts the setting to Anaina Hou Community Park, stationed behind Kauai Mini Golf at 5-2723 Kūhiō Highway, and the Kaua‘i Resource Center at 3460 Ahukini Road, right in front of the Līhu‘e Refuse Transfer Station, as detailed by the County of Kaua'i.
Remember, these Household Hazardous Waste events are a no-go zone for businesses, government agencies, non-profits, and farmers - it's strictly a residential affair. Anyone with questions or seeking further details may want to give the Solid Waste Office a buzz at 808-241-4841 or scout out the Household Hazardous Waste website for additional info, as per the County of Kaua'i.
