Last Month, the Office of Innovation and Technology distributed 50 free laptops to the Kensington community as part of an initiative to close the digital divide. The event also provided digital literacy training to help residents effectively navigate the internet. This initiative aims to improve tech access in a neighborhood where it is often limited.

As per the City of Philadelphia release, "For many in our city, access to technology is a real challenge that impacts everything from job searches and schoolwork to staying in touch with family. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to be connected, and this event was all about making that happen."

The event was not just about giving out laptops but also about teaching residents how to use them. City representatives and volunteers from the Digital Navigator Network helped set up the devices and offered guidance on internet connectivity and digital literacy.

The city offers several resources for residents who need help with digital access. These include free or low-cost devices, personalized assistance from a Digital Navigator, affordable internet options, public computer centers, and digital skills classes.
