As night falls, the chance of showers diminishes to a mere 10% before clearing up. The chilling winds, nevertheless, persist with northwestern gusts as strong as 25 mph, and temperatures taking a dip to a low of around 31 degrees. Anyone venturing out into the early evening may want to bundle up as the foggy conditions combined with the wind chill factor may lead to colder than expected temperatures.
Looking towards the weekend, the forecast brightens with sunny skies slated for Friday and a high near 58 degrees. Winds are expected to be calm, shifting to a southwest breeze at about 5 mph in the afternoon. "Partly cloudy" is the term of choice for Friday night's skies with a mild low around 41 degrees and similar wind conditions, according to details provided by the National Weather Service.
Residents can look forward to a pleasant Saturday, with forecasters predicting sunny weather and temperatures reaching a high near 68 degrees. However, as the evening rolls in, the mostly clear skies will be accompanied by a low around 38 degrees, with a calm west wind weaving through the night. Daybreak on Sunday brings a slight chance of showers after 2pm as the sun kisses the sky with a high near 69 degrees, and winds potentially gusting as high as 25 mph, cautions the National Weather Service.
Starting Sunday evening, the weather takes a turn with a 90% chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm occurring between 8pm and 2am, followed by more showers thereafter. Residents in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and higher areas of East Tennessee should expect a dusting to 3 inches of snow and be prepared for potential travel disruptions. As the new week begins, the chance of showers drops significantly with partly sunny conditions and a high approaching 64 degrees.
The National Weather Service has made it clear that no hazardous weather is expected from Friday through the following Wednesday outside of these disturbances. Nonetheless, they encourage the community to stay alert and keep abreast of any further updates or advisories that may be issued.
