Lancaster had its peaceful routine disrupted on Saturday afternoon with a tense standoff between a barricaded suspect and police after a reported domestic violence situation. The Lancaster Police Department was called to the scene on the 800 block of West Sixth Avenue following a 911 hang-up call at approximately 3:29 p.m., ABC6 reported. The authorities quickly ascertained that the man inside the residence, later identified as 41-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, had barricaded himself and was presumably armed.
As the afternoon waned into evening, residents were urged to stay indoors while law enforcement tackled the standoff. The situation escalated, necessitating the involvement of the Special Response Team and the Hostage Negotiation Team. WBNS's coverage showed that officers breached the home around 7 p.m., after which Johnson was apprehended.
Following the concerning events, Johnson was taken into custody and delivered to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Jail on a probation holder. The Scioto Post confirmed his case is now pending review by the Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office, which will decide on the potential criminal charges to be filed.
