Travelers through the Blue Diamond and Jones corridor, expect to see overnight lane reductions as Clark County Public Works kicks off a spate of infrastructure improvements. According to a release on the Clark County's official website, starting tonight, eastbound and westbound traffic on Blue Diamond Road will be constricted to a single lane in each direction from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., a pattern set to repeat nightly through Friday morning and then again on Sunday night.
The county's goal is to improve the intersection, including upgrades to traffic signals. During the day, traffic flows normally with four lanes eastbound and three lanes westbound. At night, shutdowns happen for construction, but by 6 a.m. each day, the roads are cleared and ready to go.
Expect delays, so the county advises drivers to take alternate routes or allow extra time for commutes. With sidewalk closures and limited pedestrian access near work sites, people walking should stay alert and aware of their surroundings.
Staying ahead of traffic is key, and drivers can get real-time updates through apps like Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze. These apps can help reroute drivers around obstacles, especially with nighttime construction.
