As the search for Joey Darnell Thomas's killer continues, the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Bureau Homicide detectives are reaching out to the public for any information that could lead to an arrest in last year's stabbing case that resulted in the tragic death of the 24-year-old Long Beach man, according to LAPD's official news release. The homicide occurred on the evening of August 6, 2024, near Westlake Avenue and 6th Street, beside MacArthur Park, with no apparent motive unearthed despite exhaustive investigation efforts.
The LAPD and the City of Los Angeles have a vested interest in bringing closure to Thomas' family by locating the individual responsible for what they've termed as a "senseless murder." Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez and the Los Angeles City Council have thus "approved a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder," as stated in the LAPD's newsroom.
For those in possession of information related to the case, LAPD Central Bureau Homicide detectives can be reached at (213) 996-4118, moreover, anonymous tips can be submitted via the LA Regional Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477) or through their website, with additional options for anonymous reporting including the “P3 Tips” mobile application which allows selection of the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers as the local program, as detailed in LAPD's official news release.
