A tragic event unfolded in the early hours of March 26, when a female juvenile was fatally stabbed in an apartment on the 4200 block of Channel 10 Drive. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has reported that their officers responded to the scene at approximately 3:36 a.m. and found the young girl with critical injuries.

Despite the efforts of the officers to provide life-saving measures and the prompt arrival of medical personnel, the victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The LVMPD has confirmed that the suspect, 41-year-old Marketta Phillips, was babysitting for the juvenile at the time of the incident.

According to the official statement from the LVMPD, Phillips was arrested near the crime scene and has been charged with Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon. The report noted that the stabbing occurred while the victim's father was away at work and that Phillips fled when the father returned home, only to be apprehended shortly thereafter.

The LVMPD is continuing the investigation into the circumstances of the murder. The identity of the juvenile, as well as the cause and manner of her death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact the LVMPD Homicide Section by phone, email, or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
