According to a social media post by LVMPD, Herring received word of the missing person via a radio call and later, during off-duty hours, managed to spot someone fitting the description of the individual approximately 3 1/2 miles from the initial location.

Upon noticing the man, Herring took it upon herself to ensure the accuracy of her discovery, circling back multiple times to confirm the individual's identity as the missing person in question.
