Drivers navigating Haleko Road in Līhu‘e will need to plan for additional commute time through the end of the month. The Department of Public Works, alongside GP Roadway Solutions, has issued a notification that partial road closures will take place on weekdays up to March 28, between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m for guardrail repairs, as announced on the County of Kaua'i website.
Initial reports suggested that the closures were set to take place from Feb. 24 to Feb. 28, however, updates indicate a prolonged period of work necessitating ongoing lane restrictions. These disruptions, which were initially announced for an earlier span from Feb. 13 to Feb. 21, are essential for the safety and continuity of Haleko Road. The no parking directive in the work zones will remain in force, and flaggers are to be stationed to manage traffic flow, as reported by the County of Kaua'i.
The Department of Public Works has thanked the community, in advance, for their patience and understanding with a simple "Mahalo." Commuters are encouraged to find alternate routes and allow extra time during the construction hours. For questions, residents can contact GP Roadway Solutions at 808-275-5263 or the Roads Division Main Office at 808-241-4847, as per the County of Kaua'i. Following these guidelines will help ensure the project is completed smoothly and traffic returns to normal.
