Long Beach has seen its share of action with two firearms-related incidents leading to arrests this past day, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The first incident unfolded on the 1700 block of Locust Avenue when High Crime Focus Team officers performed a traffic stop at around 5:45 p.m. on March 8. A loaded firearm was discovered during the course of their investigation, leading to the arrest of a suspect now known to have been forbidden from possessing a weapon. As the LBPD reported, this investigation is still underway, signaling a search for further information or possibly additional charges.
Subsequently, later the same evening, a shots call drew officers to the intersection of 20th Street and Lewis Avenue at about 10:12 p.m. Initial findings suggest a male adult negligently discharged a firearm in the area. Authorities were able to make an arrest and recover the firearm involved. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the investigation into this matter is continuing.
