Luke Combs has been honored with a star on the Music City Walk of Fame in downtown Nashville, recognizing his impact on country music. WKRN reports that Combs, a multiple CMA Award winner and Grammy nominee, received the accolade during a ceremony attended by family, friends, and songwriters.
Combs told WKRN," People ask me when did you make it in the music business. I get asked that question all the time. The answer is always the same. All I wanted to do was to be able to make a living playing music and doing something I loved. That would have been paying my bills, living in a one-bedroom apartment by myself, I would have been happy doing that. So, when I came to Nashville there were never any expectations of I need to be a superstar, I need to play stadiums. I need a publishing deal. I just wanted to be happy, and I’m so happy getting to live the life that I get to live now." The Music City Walk of Fame is a prestigious honor for artists who have made significant contributions to the industry.
A key highlight of Combs' recognition is his achievement of having two songs surpassing a billion streams on Spotify. “I never would have imagined in a million years that it would have turned into what it turned into. It started as a dream,” Combs shared with the crowd, as reported by WSMV. He is now the 109th star on the Walk of Fame.
The ceremony, hosted by WSM 650 radio's Bill Cody, drew a large crowd, with many of Combs' fans from the "Bootleggers" fan club present, as reported by The Tennessean. Despite the cold weather, the fans eagerly celebrated Combs' achievement.
