
A disturbing incident occurred last week at a local recreation center in Paradise, California, where a man threatened a group of juveniles playing basketball, the Paradise Police report. According to the official social media post from the Paradise Police Department, the incident took place at the Terry Ashe Recreation Center, located at 6626 Skyway, last Monday evening.
Officers arrived at the scene and found frightened juveniles, their parents, and the suspect, Brandon Bocanegra, a 44-year-old transient from the Chico area. Bocanegra appeared to be targeting one juvenile, using threatening, racially charged, and sexually explicit language. He also showed signs of alcohol intoxication.
Following their investigation, the police arrested Bocanegra for a raft of charges, including threatening to assault a juvenile with a deadly weapon, perpetrating hate crimes, annoying/molesting a minor, and public intoxication. He was booked into the Butte County Jail without further incident.
