In Corona, Queens, a man was apprehended for a hammer-wielding rampage against parked cars. On Monday evening, at around 7:30 p.m., 23-year-old Dorian Rivera, a local of the affected block, set about a spree of destruction. Witnesses described him smashing car windows, the sound echoing down 97th Street, as per 1010 WINS.
Caught in the act, a video records Rivera moving swiftly between the vehicles, each strike of his hammer leaving a web of shattered glass in its wake. At some point, Rivera was seen flipping the bird toward the person filming. One of the onlookers, Chris, told 1010 WINS, "We called right away, like, with the hammer going through the windows. We were asking [police] to come fast, right away, because he was destroying like most of the cars."
Rivera's arrest came shortly after, as he retreated to his home, merely a stone's throw from the scene of his alleged crimes. According to police, he was charged with criminal mischief and seven counts of criminal mischief of property. Citizen App footage further captures the damage along the street, revealing the extent of Rivera's alleged outburst, as reported by ABC7NY.
Records uncovered by authorities detailed a previous run-in with the law involving Rivera for resisting arrest just a month beforehand. Despite these revelations, the investigation remains active and ongoing.
