According to the police report, the school's property suffered repeated attacks on two separate dates, with windows being the primary target. Michael Gregory Shane, a 35-year-old resident of Northeast D.C., was identified and arrested in connection with these incidents.
The police responded to the school, situated on the 6000 block of Chillum Place, NE, following reports of a suspect that on December 11, 2024, and again on February 21, 2025, shattered windows by throwing large rocks; the suspect committed these acts on foot and would promptly vanish post-destruction. In a span covering these two dates, the combined damage to the school's property was calculated to be approximately $11,000, a considerable financial burden for any educational institution.
Efforts by the detectives in charge led to the apprehension of Shane on February 27, 2025, nearly a week after the most recent offense occurred, the culmination of an ongoing investigation that pieced together the suspect's pattern of destruction.
