A man is currently in critical condition following a severe traffic collision on I-35 South, near Palo Alto Road on the Southwest Side of San Antonio. As reported by KENS 5, the incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. yesterday, when the man purportedly tried to enter the highway too soon, striking a curb and consequently the side of an 18-wheeler truck.
The force of impact was significant, necessitating the San Antonio Fire Department to deploy the Jaws of Life to extract the individual from his sedan. According to a report by Fox San Antonio, while trying to get onto I-35 when he lost control, the sedan driver collided with the truck.
Following the extraction, the driver was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center with injuries described by officials as life-threatening. Both outlets have described this as a developing story, which suggests that further information may become available as investigators piece together the details of the crash.
At this time, police have not released the identity of the man involved in the crash. The condition of the truck driver was not immediately reported, and there has been no indication of any other vehicles being involved in the accident.
