
A man has died following a shooting incident this morning in Tarpon Springs, as authorities continue to work through the details of what transpired. According to FOX 13 News, the man who suffered gunshot wounds was immediately attended by paramedics and transported to Bayonet Point Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Details on the victim's identity have not been disclosed pending notification of his next of kin, reported The Tampa Free Press. Local police have however, clarified that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and have assured the community that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The Tarpon Springs Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Officers had responded to the scene of the incident at 1208 N. Pinellas Ave, following reports of gunfire. After the shooting, police measures were taken to secure the area and begin a preliminary inquiry into the matter.
WFLA News Channel 8 has reported that the Tarpon Springs Police Department stated, "the incident was isolated and there is no threat to the public." While the investigation continues, details on potential suspects or motives behind the shooting have not yet been published, nor has there been any information on how, or if, the perpetrator was apprehended.
