
An incident unfolded on the East Freeway in Houston last night when, a pedestrian was struck by several cars after witnesses reported the individual may have been chased onto the roadway. According to Click2Houston, the incident, which took place near the Lockwood Drive exit just before 11 p.m., resulted in the freeway being shut down for several hours as authorities worked the scene.
The Houston Police Department, as detailed by KHOU, revealed that the pedestrian was a man hit by multiple vehicles after running from a group of pursuing men, his body was found dismembered, personal belongings were discovered on him; however, police have yet to confirm if the identity matches that of the victim.
Two of the primary vehicles involved have been identified by police, and efforts to review surveillance footage in the area are ongoing with the aim of identifying the individuals who were seen chasing the man. "I don’t know what was going on with these gentlemen. I don’t know if they were trying to stop him from going on the freeway or the cause of going on to the freeway," HPD Sgt. Rose mentioned in a statement obtained by KHOU. "Regardless, he was struck multiple times by multiple vehicles and he is now deceased."
Authorities are reaching out to the community, encouraging anyone with additional information to come forward as they continue their investigation into the fatal collision.
