An early morning disturbance shattered the calm of an Orlando shopping plaza when a man was found shot to death inside his van. ClickOrlando reported that Orlando Police responded to the 911 call around 2:48 a.m. Yesterday, arriving at the 5700 block of Curry Ford Road. There, they discovered the victim, later identified as 59-year-old Luis G. Vicente-Martinez, already deceased with a gunshot wound.
According to WESH, the police found several bullet markings near the van, placed the vehicle behind a McDonald's at the corner of Semoran Boulevard, and verified the branding "Daniel's Plumbing Service" on the van, which has a listed address in Sarasota. The company declined to comment when contacted.
The area, typically quiet at that hour with local businesses closed by 2 a.m., was immediately cordoned off as a crime scene. Witnesses and shoppers in the plaza expressed their distress over the shooting, with Zachery Cuello telling WESH, "Honestly, it breaks my heart that there is like a shooting that happened, and my prayers go out to the family."
Orlando Police have not yet connected the violent act to any of the businesses in the shopping center. Still, detectives are working diligently to uncover who opened fire and the possible motive.
