A man is currently in critical condition after a serious fall from a balcony in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh early this morning. According to WPXI, emergency services were summoned to the 3400 block of Parkview Avenue at roughly 12:45 a.m. after the individual plummeted about 10 feet from a balcony with a reported low railing.
Found unresponsive and on his back after striking his head, the man was transported by medics to a hospital. The balcony, seemingly innocuous in height, bore witness to a critical injury that was sustained by the fallen man when he hit his head. In a statement shared on social media by the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department, they indicated, "He was found unresponsive on his back after hitting his head."
Although the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department responded to the incident with Police, Fire, and EMS teams, the cause of the fall is under investigation. Notwithstanding the gravity of the situation, the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene as a precautionary measure. Public safety officials have suggested that the incident seems to be accidental.
