Early Monday morning, a man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash along South State Highway 6 in Houston. The collision, which occurred around 4:30 a.m., involved a gray Honda Accord and a white 18-wheeler Freightliner truck, according to a report from the City of Houston.

The crash occurred when the Honda was heading southbound and the Freightliner, leaving a parking lot, crossed the main lanes of the highway to make a left turn. The identity of the deceased male, the driver of the Honda, is still pending as the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences works to notify family members, as per the City of Houston.

Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer C. Nguyen from the HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division are leading the investigation. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not impaired, was questioned at the scene, and was then released, as reported by the City of Houston. Details are still emerging as the Houston police continue to investigate the circumstances behind the accident.
