A man in Warren was robbed and beaten at gunpoint yesterday morning after being lured into what he believed was a date with a woman he met on a dating app, reported FOX 2 Detroit. The incident occurred in the vicinity of 12 Mile and Van Dyke Roads, and has subsequently led to four arrests following a standoff with police.

According to an Audacy report, the victim was instructed to meet the woman at a vacant home near 12 Mile and Lund. He was asked to wait in a bedroom while the woman went to the bathroom. In the interim, two men entered the room, brandishing weapons and demanding his belongings. They proceeded to assault the man quickly and swiftly ran away.

Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido commented on the dangers of online dating, especially in the early morning hours. "You've got to be suspect at best," he stated, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit. He advised the public to be more cautious and to share location details with family or friends when meeting someone for the first time.

After the assault, the victim was able to climb out of a window and call for help. Responding officers observed suspects entering a residence on Lund Road, leading to a barricade situation. Needing to bring a potentially volatile scenario to a close, the Warren Police Department's Special Response Team forced entry into the home, taking three men and one woman into custody without further incident, as described by CBS News Detroit. Investigators are to present the case to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, hoping to understand further and prevent such occurrences.
