Residents of Maury County can breathe a sigh of relief as a brush fire that ignited on Neeley Hollow Road this past Tuesday has been successfully contained by local fire units. According to a post on Maury County Fire Department's Facebook page, the blaze originated from a controlled burn earlier in the day when embers skipped over containment lines and set fire to a nearby wooded area.
On the scene, several units including Brush 26, Squad 21, Squad 32, Engine 21, and Tanker 21 were quickly deployed. It has been reported by the fire department that while the main fire was contained rapidly, fire personnel were diligent in their efforts to extinguish the persistent hot spots licking the burn line for over an hour.
The incident serves as a caution to residents about the potential volatility of controlled burns and the importance of maintaining proper safety measures to prevent unintended spread. The Maury County Fire Department used the incident as an opportunity, posting under the hashtag #TeamMaury to highlight the collaborative effort of the responding units.
Beyond containing the fire, the Maury County fire teams conducted a thorough mop-up operation, ensuring the embers were fully extinguished and posed no further threat to the surrounding area. This effort requires careful observation and a commitment to detail, ensuring that the fire does not reignite from smoldering remains lodged in the brush.
