The Medford Fire Department, along with the Parks, Recreation, and Facilities departments, will hold free Wood Debris Chipper Days to help residents prepare for the dry season and reduce wildfire risks. The events are scheduled for March 26, and March 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the City of Medford.
Residents can bring clean wood debris, including limbs and branches up to 8 inches in diameter, to Donahue-Frohnmayer Park on the east side or Fichtner-Mainwaring Park on the west. Do not include grass trimmings, weeds, trash, or construction materials. The chipping service is for Medford residents only, and commercial loads are not accepted, as reported by the City of Medford.
Chipper Days events help residents clear debris from their properties to reduce fire hazards and prevent the spread of wildfires. As stated by the City of Medford, "Getting rid of your debris will help reduce fire hazards around your property and minimizes the potential spread if a wildfire event were to occur." This effort helps create a safer environment for the community.
