Mesquite residents and commuters will see continued progress on multiple road construction projects throughout the city, with completion dates ranging from March to Spring 2026. The City of Mesquite has been working on extensive infrastructure improvements, including expanding roads, installing new utilities, and repairing sidewalks and curbs under the Real. Texas. Roads. Project, a program supported by a $125 million bond sale approved by voters in 2015.
The expansion of F. P. Lucas Boulevard, from McKenzie Road to E. Cartwright Road, transforms the old two-lane asphalt road into a modern, four-lane, divided concrete road. The update includes adding new water and sewer lines and features a new multi-use trail and a bridge section, the city announced. The installation of water and sewer utilities is nearly complete, and road construction is ongoing. If everything goes according to plan, the project should be wrapped up by Fall 2025.
Another significant development is on Oates Road, where the City applies a fresh layer of asphalt from Gus Thomasson to Galloway. The repair work for sidewalks and curbs has already been completed, and with asphalt paving started in late February, the project's conclusion is anticipated this month.
South Parkway's overhaul, stretching from U.S. 80 to Peachtree Road, also improves the local community's daily commute. Here, the construction crews have nearly finished installing new utilities and have completed about half of the concrete paving, with the southern stretch of the project starting the first week of March. According to the City of Mesquite, the entire South Parkway project is on track to be finished by the Summer of 2025.
Finally, Mesquite has initiated utility reconstruction work and laid new concrete roads and sidewalks for various streets, including Lorraine Lane, Candise Court, Ivy Drive, Mt. Vernon Drive, Fernwood Drive, Monticello Drive, and the Stoney Glen neighborhood. The utility construction kicked off in late February 2025, tackling Lorraine Lane and Candise Court first before progressing to the remaining areas. As detailed by the city's announcement, these efforts are projected to be complete by Spring 2026.
