A Miami Beach woman, 61-year-old Victoria Williams, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder following the death of her stepfather last month in Miami Gardens. Local 10 News reports that Williams is accused of fatally beating her stepfather with a metal cane and a jar of hair vitalizer during a violent altercation. Williams had called 911, stating that her stepfather had "nearly bitten her finger off." When Miami Gardens police arrived at the home near the 15000 block of Northwest 32nd Place, they found the victim unresponsive with severe head injuries.
The 911 call did not mention the need for medical assistance for the victim. Officers found Williams with bloodstains on her clothing and allowed them to enter the home. First responders attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, according to WSVN.
Detectives found blood evidence throughout the house, including on the walls, ceiling, and a ceiling fan. They also discovered a bloodied metal cane and a large jar of hair vitalizer, which they believe were used in the attack. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled the death a homicide, citing blunt force injuries consistent with the found weapons.
Further investigation revealed more evidence against Williams. She initially claimed self-defense but later denied using any objects to strike the victim. Police found her purse at the scene, containing the victim’s credit cards, his wife’s credit cards, and $619 in cash. A $10 bill in the purse was stained with blood. During an interview, Williams said she had a history of problems with her stepfather, claiming he had prevented her from visiting her mother and had "never treated her fairly," as per Local 10.
The arrest report detailed that Williams claimed the altercation began when she visited her mother, and her stepfather became aggressive, leading to a struggle. However, inconsistencies in her story and the evidence led to her arrest for second-degree murder with a deadly weapon. Williams is currently being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
