Residents in Miami-Dade County Commission District 12 can expect road improvements as the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) extends its "Potholepalooza" program. Running from Monday next week through May 17, the program aims to repair potholes and improve road conditions, following the success of over 1,200 repairs since 2023, as per the Miami-Dade County release.
"Safety is our top priority and maintaining the integrity of our roads aligns with our Vision Zero mission of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2040," said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava in the same release. Potholes are more common during the rainy season, and while minor repairs can be made quickly, some may require larger reconstruction efforts.
Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez of District 12 supports the program, highlighting that while potholes are a common issue, they don’t have to be tolerated. He stressed that during Potholepalooza, the focus is on addressing these road issues directly, and that investing in infrastructure significantly enhances daily life.
Residents who spot potholes or other street issues are encouraged to report them by calling 311 or 305-468-5900 or through the 311 Direct app. The County aims to complete repairs within seven days after processing a report.
