A Middleburg man has been arrested following a child exploitation investigation by the Clay County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, with support from the Northeast Florida INTERCEPT Task Force. Last Wednesday, authorities served a search warrant at a residence on Lazy Acres Road. According to a social media post from the Clay County Sheriff's Office, the occupants cooperated as they were detained without incident during the operation.

While searching the property for evidence, the investigators conducted interviews with all of the house's occupants. After thorough assessments by detectives from the CCSO ICAC and officials from the Department of Children and Family Services, they established probable cause for an arrest. Charles Peter Browne, born on November 24, 1982, now faces a charge of Custodial Sexual Battery.

Following the arrest, Browne was taken to the Clay County Jail. The CCSO has stated that the investigation remains in progress, and they encourage anyone with information that might assist in the case to come forward. Detective Eva Solis can be reached for any tips at [email protected] or via phone at 904-673-5892. The Clay County Sheriff's Office emphasizes the importance of community involvement in aiding their efforts to protect children and bring perpetrators to justice.
